Prof. Porrata-Doria is immersed in international and comparative law, as well as other areas of business law. He has substantial interests and experience in in economic development, community development, government service and healthcare. He is a veteran with over twenty years of service.

Brief biography: 
Rafael A. Porrata-Doria, Jr., has taught at Temple University School of Law since 1983 He has been a visiting professor at the University of Puerto Rico, Inter-American University of Puerto Rico, LUISS Guido Carli University (Rome) and Rutgers-Camden Law and the Lauder Institute of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Before teaching, he was in the private practice of law in Philadelphia and Miami, Florida.
 
Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico and a 2977 graduate of the Yale Law School, Rafael was is admitted to the practice of law in Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, and Puerto Rico and speaks Spanish, English, French and Italian. He has written books and articles in international and comparative law, securities, and corporate law, consulted for the World Bank, American Law Institute, and the Senate of Pennsylvania. He is also a Corresponding Member of the Academia Puertorriqueña de Jurisprudencia y Legislación, an aaffiliate of Spain’s Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación. In addition, he has been a member of the Fulbright Program Peer Review Panel.
 
Professor Porrata-Doria has also served on the boards of several non-profit organizations, including Eagleville Hospital and Saint Christopher’s Hospital for Children.  He was a founder (in 1983) and is currently Vice-Chair of the Hispanic Association of Contractors and Enterprises, a Philadelphia economic development organization serving the North Philadelphia community. He has also served as Chair of the Yale Alumni Association, Yale University’s national alumni organization.
