As a single parent of a nine-year old, most of his free time revolves around his daughter’s playdates.
Edward Vytlacil received his PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2000, specializing in econometrics (the combination of mathematical statistics and economics). His first faculty position was at Stanford, but then had the good sense to move to the east coast as he joined the faculty at Columbia, and even better sense to then move to Yale. In the worst decision he ever made, he left Yale for NYU, a decision that is as inexplicable to him as it is to anyone else. Coming to his senses, and having the good fortune that Yale generously allowed him to return, he rejoined the economics department at Yale in 2015. He has been here ever since, with no plans on ever leaving again, short trips excluded. Professionally, his achievements include being a Founding Fellow and former Director of the International Association of Applied Econometrics and a Fellow of the Econometric Society. Much more important are his non-professional achievement of being the proud father of a wonderful and amazing daughter.
