Dan Singer

Brief biography: 
Dan Singer leads McKinsey’s Global Sports & Gaming Practice.  Based in New York, Dan has been with McKinsey for 31 years.  He was a Senior Partner in the Media Practice 2006-2014 and then transitioned to his current, half-time role.  In addition to his work at McKinsey, Dan invests in and advises innovative sports/gaming/tech companies through Suited Connectors, a venture fund he founded.
 
Dan founded the Sports Practice in 1999. He serves the 6 largest sports leagues in the world, as well as clubs, organizing bodies, and business partners such as broadcasters, sponsors, and digital media.  Dan’s sports expertise spans growth strategy—from international expansion, innovation, pricing, sponsorship sales, digital distribution—league governance, and operations effectiveness. 
 
Dan also leads McKinsey’s work in gaming, including online licensed casino operators, sports books, thoroughbred racing, and daily fantasy sports. Dan is also an expert in social and competitive video gaming and has led growth strategy for businesses for esports leagues, publishers, and teams.  
 
Since 2014, Dan is also a venture investor in high-growth, high-tech sports, gaming, and media companies. Those companies include TSM (esports), Eulerity (digital marketing), LeoVegas (online casino), Maverick Lien Funding and Fund That Flip (real estate financing), and Zipari (healthcare software).
 
Dan is a regular contributor to Sports Business Journal and Sportico, and his research has been cited by the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, ESPN, and Fast Company. He is a frequent speaker at sports business forums such as MIT, Michigan, and Stanford and hosts the McKinsey Sports Round Table.
 
Dan is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Business School. Dan’s wife Alison is the founder and President of the Autism Science Foundation. He has two daughters. Dan is a semi-professional poker player and has ranked in the top 40 in the American Crossword championships.
