Morse College Council & Yale College Council

The Morse College Council (MCC) is responsible for organizing many Morse events, ranging from Morse Formal to interstellar snow tubing, and helping to create new Morse gear. Open meetings are held every Monday at 9:00 PM in the Morse Common Room, and usually, involve free food.

MCC Officers 2023-2024

Jenesis Nwainokpor ‘25

President

Jenesis is a junior from North Carolina majoring in History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health. When she isn’t pulling all-nighters in the library or discovering new allergens in the dining hall, she’s usually reading from her pocket constitution, talking about Taylor Swift, or designing Morse Propaganda. Outside of MCC, she is involved in Yale Undergraduate Moot Court, Yale Mock Trial, and works in a lab at the School of Medicine. If you’re looking for her you can probably find her ignoring her homework in favor of planning events for and/or orchestrating coups on behalf of the best residential college at Yale.

Sofia Rabbani ‘25

Vice President

Sofia is a junior from Birmingham, Alabama. She changes her prospective major weekly (right now it’s Statistics & Data Science or Environmental Studies—ask her at the end of the year). She has a little walrus figurine named Alistair Hugo in her dorm to signify her college loyalty, and a stuffed walrus named Hugo Alistair (she and her roommate and co-vice president Jenesis looked up “distinguished baby names”). In addition to being on MCC, she also displays her love for the best residential college by being a Morse aide. She can also often be found in the Admissions Office, where she works as a Recruitment Coordinator (with MCC president Ramsay). In her free time, she loves reading fantasy books, talking about the MCU, listening to Taylor Swift, and spending all her money in different New Haven coffee shops. Her favorite place on campus is MORSE, obviously, and she is so excited to serve as co-VP this year and meet even more amazing Morsels.

Cal Barton ‘25

Secretary

Cal is a 2025 Morsel from St. Louis, Missouri, studying English and Theater and Performance Studies. He used to be a First-Year representative; now, he is MCC’s Diplomatic Outreach Guy, which means he seeks inspiration from and coordinates events with other residential colleges. Outside MCC, Cal is the Yale Drama Coalition’s First-Year Liaison. He can often be found reading in the Divinity School or wandering around the YUAG; when he is not in either of these places, he is in rehearsal or in the Morse library, defending his beliefs on the moon landing (suspicious), English 120 (best class ever), and fruity desserts (eek).

Elizabeth Schaefer ’26

Treasurer

Elizabeth is a sophomore from Houston, Texas. She is majoring in computer science (unfortunately). At Yale, she is involved with Dwight Hall, works in Admissions as a Recruitment Coordinator, and TAs for CS50. In addition, she loves Morse sooo much that she is also your current Senator! Outside of professing Morse superiority, Elizabeth enjoys thinking about Morse superiority. Those are her only hobbies <3

Bende Doernyei ’26

Alumni Fund Chair

Bende is a sophomore from Hungary double majoring in Economics and Cognitive Science. At Yale, Bende is involved in the Yale Entrepreneurial Society, the Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking, and the Morse Aids as well as being the Alumni Fund Chair for MCC. If you’re looking for Ben, you can whisper the secret password outside the entryway to the buttery and he will emerge from the smoke holding chicken nuggets. You can’t have any though, they’re his.

Ava van Straten ‘25

Student Activities Committee  Co-Chair

Ava is a junior from Green Bay, Wisconsin. She is a pre-law psychology major completing the Education Studies Certificate as part of her deeper interest in studying the social and emotional development of children. Beyond the best extracurricular activity, MCC, Ava is involved in SELOC-ES research at Yale’s Center for Emotional Intelligence, American Sign Language Club, Yale’s Climbing Team, Campus Girl Scouts, and YETI - Yale’s Education Tutoring Initiative. When she is not sitting in the Morse Library pretending to do work and arguing with Cal (MCC Secretary) about his extreme moon landing theories, you can find her designing new morse merch (morch), watching Breaking Bad for the 3rd time, baking muffins, or slalom waterskiing.

Julian Tweneboa Kodua ’25

Student Activities Committee  Co-Chair

Julian is a junior from Ghana studying Computer Science (and S&DS potentially). He enjoys hanging out with friends, playing games, and talking about the different random things he has in common with the people he meets. Outside class, you’ll catch him at the Soccer, ping pong, or volleyball intramural (IM) games. If you have any tech-related problem, Julian’s the person to call (He works for STC!). Feel free to say hi to him and he’ll be happy to share his Morse experience.

Brylee Williams ‘26

Community Outreach Chair

Brylee Williams is a sophomore from Iowa majoring in Ethics, Politics, & Economics. A former student at Weiser High, Brylee has luminescent blonde hair and totally tubular swag, and also enjoys greeting every person who walks into the Morse dining hall with a personalized handshake. Brylee brings this enthusiasm to every MCC meeting, where he sits among the crowd rather than on the stage to really fulfill his duties as community outreach coordinator. Outside of MCC, Brylee is currently devoted to trying every pizza place in New Haven.

Fatima Aw ’26

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Chair & Social Media Manager

Fatima Aw is a sophomore from New Jersey majoring in Computer Science and Psychology. Fatima’s main interests lay in critiquing the matcha lattes of New Haven, spending time with friends, and taking IMs way too seriously,  At Yale, she works in social media for the School of the Environment, walks to class via Grove Street, and saw Steve Lacy in concert, according to her Instagram. On MCC, Fatima is the Social Media manager, where she brings her keen eye for aesthetics and ability to capture viral trends to the MCC instagram to capture MCC events and student life.

Bernadette Nwokeji ’26

Student Health and Wellness Coordinator

Bernadette is a sophomore from Florida majoring in Biomedical Engineering and History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health. Bernadette’s passions include both increasing health equity and advancing Morse’s position as the best residential college at Yale, and in the world. At Yale, Bernadette is on the Cheer Team and serves as MCC’s Student Health and Wellness Coordinator, where she can connect those passions she mentioned a few sentences ago. A fun fact about Bernadette is she’s currently standing right behind you.
